186 Summer Ave is participating in Reading Porchfest
Community matters a great deal to all of us at Wilson Wolfe. All of our agents, myself included, were raised locally, live locally, and work locally. So, being involved with the Summer Avenue restoration—a project that means so much to the Reading community—is a true gift.
With all of this in mind, we couldn’t think of a more perfect way to celebrate this very special property and what it means to Reading than to participate in one of the town’s most beloved events: Porchfest!
The entire 186 Summer Avenue renovation team is thrilled to participate in the sixth annual Reading PorchFest event on Saturday, June 22, 2024.
As part of this free town-wide music festival, we'll welcome neighbors to the beautiful Westside historic district to enjoy music performed by local artists and see the restoration progress.

Why Celebrating 186 Summer Avenue with Music Just Makes Sense
The 186 Summer Avenue property was built by Robert "Father" Kemp, founder of Old Folks Concerts, a touring vocal ensemble, who was very active in the local community. Its welcoming, wrap-around porch is a notable feature and one that our team is excited to restore to its original splendor. With this rich musical history in mind, inviting the community to the porch to celebrate with music felt like a fitting tribute to the property’s past and future.

What You’ll See
Community members are invited to come for the tunes and stay for guided hard hat tours throughout the event.
You’ll be among the first to have the opportunity to walk through the porch and sections of the first and second floors of the original house.
The restoration team is working to determine if the balustrade around the porch was part of the original design. We plan to remove them if they are not original to enhance the porch's appeal. We hope to have more details by the time neighbors join us later this month.
We will also have large renderings on display that show what’s next for this gorgeous property, including the two-story plus garage addition—totaling approximately 2,400-square-feet—that will transform 186 Summer Avenue from a historic gem to a 21st-century dream home. Take a look at the plans to modernize this incredible home with an addition featuring a primary suite with dual walk-in closets and spa-style bath, an open-concept kitchen and living areas, a two-car garage, and a mudroom.
We hope to see you on Saturday, June 22—rain or shine—for this celebration of music and community!
